Jaime Thomas Johnson, 41, of Escanaba was sentenced to 4 years to 10 years in prison. Johnson entered a plea as charged with Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder or by Strangulation.
On January 27, 2019, Escanaba Department of Public Safety responded to a report of an assault in the city of Escanaba.
Officers made contact with a victim and observed a large bump on her head and bleeding from her nose. Upon further investigation, officers learned that Johnson strangled the victim to the point where she could not speak and then punched her in the head multiple times. The victim attempted to get away on multiple occasions, but was unable to escape.
Following the assault, Johnson instructed the victim to clean the blood of himself and herself, as well as clean up the blood on the wall and floor.
