The Marquette County Health Department will start providing illegal drug users with sterile needles. The walk-in service starts September 13th at the Sawyer Family Health Center, according to Department Director Doctor Terry Frankovich. The center will also test for diseases that can be transmitted by non-sterile needles—like H-I-V and hepatitis. The program is being funded by the state health department and two other local agencies. It aims to cut down on diseases brought on by street drug use, according to Frankovich.
