The Upper Peninsula State Fair continues in Escanaba, and besides the elephant ears and carnival rides comes politicians.
Lots of them. Running for local and state offices this fall. And tonight, a quickly-arranged visit to the Fair by Republican Lieutenant Governor candidate Lisa Posthumus -Lyons. The Kent Count y Clerk and former state representative was named by Bill Schuette as his running mate earlier this week.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am to be going to the U.P. State Fair,” Postumus-Lyons told RRN News. “I’ve never been there before. I’m just hoping that people come out and tell me what about the U.P., and what they want us to know, and what they want us to work on.”
She will be at the Fair Saturday morning to meet as many people as possible.
Meanwhile, word on the Democratic side of the ticket is that Gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer will have a —quote—major announcement on Monday. Speculation is that she will name her running mate at that event.
