Backpacks, notebooks, rulers and everything students need is being collected during the one-day ‘Stuff the Bus’ event.
From 10 am to 6 pm on Monday, August 20, a Checker Transport school bus will be parked at the Holiday Inn parking lot…so that people can ‘stuff’ the bus with school supplies for needy children in Marquette County.
The items will be delivered to the YMCA of Marquette County to be sorted and distributed to the kids in need.
Organizers say, “We believe all children deserve the chance to start their first day of school with all the supplies needed to make their learning experience everything it should be.”
In previous years, the community has been generous with donations making last year their biggest year ever.
If you can’t make it to the one-day ‘Stuff the Bus’ event August 20th, area sponsors are collecting items:
- RANGE BANK (Negaunee & Harvey)
- JUBILEE FOODS (Ishpeming)
- THE MINING JOURNAL (Marquette)
- WJMN-TV, LOCAL 3 (Marquette Township)
Suggested items to donate include: basic supplies such as pens, pencils, crayons, folders, colored markers, highlighters, composition books, protractors, compasses, water colors sketch pads, and 3×5 index cards. Monetary donations are accepted as well.
