Northern Michigan University Athletics has announced that all game day programs will now be available online and free of charge.
The initiative allows fans greater access to game information and significantly reduces the department’s environmental impact.
Previously, fans could purchase game day programs at an event with a limited supply available. Additionally, NMU Athletics printed more than 8,000 game day programs in 2017-18 totaling approximately 16,000 sheets of paper. By housing the programs online, Wildcat fans will receive the materials free of charge and a significant amount of waste will be cut.
Game day programs will be available online and can be accessed on NMUwildcats.com or via a Quick Response code (QR code) which will be present at each home NMU Athletics event. All programs will be housed on NMUwildcats.com/Programs. QR codes will also be on display at each home event. Fans can scan the QR code with the camera app on their smart phone to view the game day program.
NMU follows the footsteps of the NCAA who also supports the environmental sustainability movement. The NCAA has provided online media guides and programs at each of their championship events since the 2015-16 academic year.
Programs will be made available at least 24 hours before a scheduled home contest and will remain listed on the page for at least the entirety of each program’s season. If necessary, NMU athletics will adjust to the initiative after the fall sports have concluded.
