Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s day-one executive orders:
“I have grave concerns regarding many of the proposed actions President Trump, and those who have been nominated to serve in his administration, have publicly promoted. Many of these actions, if implemented, would involve flagrant violations of the United States Constitution, the Administrative Procedures Act, and other federal laws and long-held standards and confines by which all public actors must abide. To that end, my department is reviewing each of the executive orders signed by President Trump.
“The executive order undermining the constitutional amendment providing birthright citizenship to those born in our nation is an affront to the U.S. Constitution, and I am working with my colleagues on pursuing the appropriate legal remedy. While the President has the right to issue executive orders that govern the work of federal agencies, he does not have the unilateral right to take illegal – or in this case, unconstitutional – action against American citizens.”

Dear Attorney General Dana Nessel,
I acknowledge your concerns regarding potential violations of constitutional and federal law in the context of actions proposed or implemented by President Trump and his administration. Your commitment to reviewing the executive orders signed by the former President is noted.
However, I find it troubling and hypocritical that while such scrutiny is applied to those actions, the same vigilance does not appear to extend to the suppression of free speech and political dissent in our state. As someone who has personally experienced the consequences of local government overreach—being arrested and facing retaliation for exercising my constitutional rights—I am compelled to ask: Where was this commitment to constitutional protections when it came to safeguarding the rights of citizens like me?
I sought justice through legal channels, yet instead of fair treatment, I was met with actions that seemed intended to silence and punish me. If we are to hold leaders and their actions accountable, should we not also ensure that all levels of government are held to the same standard?
I urge your department to not only examine past executive orders but also to address ongoing violations of citizens’ rights within our own state. Ensuring equal protection under the law and defending free speech are paramount to upholding the Constitution you have sworn to protect.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Hendee

The people of michigan voted for president trump’s policies. All the people who crossed the borders illegally need to be removed. Don’t waste taxpayer, money looking into something we voted for. And if you keep fighting the majority, you’ll just end up looking for a new job.
Are You are referring to the 14th amendment on the issue of birthright citizenship? I believe & I’m relatively certain The intent of that legislation was to insure that Children of Slaves received their well deserved Citizenship and it was never the intent to have that applied to undocumented immigrants. I may be wrong.
Move to Canada !
Go to hell
Congratulations, I agree and support you.
