After 16 years of federal service, Kim Nelson, of Norway, retired from the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain on Saturday.
She was born and raised in Grand Haven, MI. She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a military wife, she served as a nurse in various locations in the United States including Hawaii, Connecticut, Washington, Virginia and Ohio.
Kim started her VA career on March 30, 2008, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. She worked in the Community Living Center and in Primary Care during her tenure there, including three years as assistant nurse manager in the CLC. While in primary care, she also served in roles as spinal cord injury nurse, oncology infusion nurse, and assistant traveling veteran and transplant coordinator.
