In an interview with RRN News late Tuesday night, Bergman said he was thankful, and pledged to continue to work on issues to help the country’s veterans.
And to his constituents across all of northern Michigan, Bergman said:
“I am so proud and honored to serve you, and to tell your story, across all the spectrums of Congress, as to who we are as Yoopers, what we believe in,” Bergman said. “And that is, very simply, faith, family, hard work, and getting things done.”
The 77-year-old Bergman was first elected to serve the U.P. and northern lower Michigan in 2016, and served for 40 years in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the level of Lieutenant General. He is now considered one of the most conservative members of the Republican caucus in the U.S. House.
Bergman also issued the following official statement on Wednesday:
“As we wrap up another campaign, I’m humbled by the incredible support the First District has shown me and I’m excited to get back to work for this beautiful place we call home. With the landslide victory for President Donald Trump, Republicans regaining control of the Senate, and the likelihood of retaining a Republican House Majority, we have our work cut out for us to return sanity to Washington and deliver on our promises.”
“The American people have sent a clear mandate – we will bring our First District conservative values to Washington and we will fight for our way of life.cLooking tocthe future, Republicans must continue developing long term strategies and solutions to move our agenda forward as partners with President Trump. I’m ascenergized as I’ve ever been to fight these fights and plan on continuing our work not just in this cycle, but throughout the 2026 cycle, and beyond
“Thank you again for your support, prayers, and work. I couldn’t do this without you.”
