In the Democratic primary for Congress, it was a stinging loss for local doctor Bob Lorinser, who was running for a second time in an effort to unseat Republican Congressman Jack Bergman. Barr won the overall primary across the large district.

There were numerous uncontested races in almost all of the local and countywide races.
In the City of Marquette, however, five people were running for two seats on the city commission. The winners were Cary Gottlieb with 2,091 votes, and Jeremy Ottaway with 1,486 votes. Former Mayor Bill Vajda was third with 1,242 votes.
