The the final concert of the Strings on the Bay summer chamber music series is set for Tuesday, August 13 at 7:00pm ET in the Besse Theater on the Escanaba Bay College Campus. It will be “Land, Sea, and Air”, performed by the True North String Quartet.
Mozart’s “Hunt” quartet is paired with New Zealand composer Alfred Hill’s “A Maori Legend,” and a transcription of the timeless Debussy classic, “Clair de Lune,” takes us to the night sky. The concert will close with Stephan Koncz’s “Waltzing Matilda.”
Meet the Musicians:
Paul Lundin is a freelance violinist based in Southeast Michigan. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Iowa. His extensive career includes performances with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Waukesha and Green Bay Symphonies, and the Racine Symphony, where he served as Concertmaster. Paul has also taught at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point and Concordia University. A native of Upper Michigan, he has directed Strings on the Bay since 1994.
Joseph Deller received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Violin Performance from Hope College. He is a member of the Flint and Jackson Symphony Orchestras and has appeared with the Michigan Opera Theatre. Joseph also conducts the Concert Orchestra through Dearborn Youth Symphony and oversees the Lullaby Project through the Flint School of Performing Arts.
Janine Bradbury is a violist residing in Commerce, Michigan. She is the acting principle with the Flint Symphony Orchestra and also plays with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra and LaCorda Ensemble. Janine holds degrees from the Juilliard School and Michigan State University. She has performed in professional Broadway theatre and toured with Phantom of the Opera. Janine maintains a private studio where she teaches violin and viola.
Katri Ervamaa, a Finnish-born cellist, is a versatile performer and educator. She has performed internationally and is a founding member of Brave New Works new music ensemble. Katri is on the faculty at the University of Michigan’s Residential College, where she leads the Music Program. She plays on an 1868 HC Silvestre cello and is passionate about creative collaborations across genres and art forms.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the concert, offering audience members an opportunity to visit with the performers.
