The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians approved 2% grant awards to the City of Escanaba Recreation Department and the Escanaba Public Safety Department. Funds will be used for the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center’s After School Program for youth in 4th – 12th grades. Funds were also awarded to the Escanaba Public Safety Department to purchase fire fighting equipment.
“Both departments appreciate the grant funding and the purchase of equipment and the support of programs would not be made possible if it wasn’t for their generosity”, stated John Gudwer, Escanaba Public Safety Department Director.
The Hannahville Indian Community’s Tribal Council approved 2% grant awards to the City of Escanaba Recreation Department and the Escanaba Public Safety Department. Funds will be used for the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center’s Flooring Project, 2024 Rock the Dock Events and to purchase fire safety equipment for Public Safety Officers.
“The City of Escanaba Recreation Department is extremely pleased to be awarded funds for varying projects. The Hannahville Indian Community has been generous to the City and other organizations throughout the years and their support is important. We appreciate the partnerships we have with them”, stated Kim Peterson, Recreation Director.
