A home was destroyed by fire in Manistique on Sunday morning.
Manistique Public Safety says the call came in at just after 3 a.m. to come to the 400 block of Delta Avenue. When crews arrived, they saw the entore back side of the home engulffed in flames. It took about 45 minutes to put the fire under control, and crews were on the scene until nearly 7 a.m.
About an hour later, Manistique Public Safety had to go back to the scene to put out more hot spots as the high winds in the are fanned the re-kindled flames. That had them on the scene for another 90 minutes or so. No injuries were reported, but it appears that several pets died in the blaze. Public Safety says that a wood stove may have been the cause of the fire. The home was a total loss, with the owner’s personal belongings also gone up in flames.
