Superior Arts Youth Theater (SAY Theater)’s production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical featuring 78 local youth runs Thursday, March 7th through Sunday, March 10th at the Forest Roberts Theatre. This production is directed by SAY Theater Artistic Director, Sara Parks, music directed by Katie Flaherty, choreographed by Skylar Taavola, conducted by Jacob Schmeltzer, and stage managed by Aubrey Wolck.
As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson (Pablo Krebs) has newly discovered powers he can’t control, a destiny he doesn’t want, and a mythology textbook’s worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle (Audrey Johnson), which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him.
The cast includes Percy’s best friend Grover Underwood (Grant Ottaway) and fellow Half-Blood Campers Annabeth Chase (Rachel Hay), Luke Castellan (Nate Wood), Clarisse LaRue (Reya Ghiardi), Katie Gardner (Rorie Johnson), and Silena Beauregard (Carley Palomaki). Featuring the Greek gods Ares (Canyon Medina), Poseidon (Colin Morrison), Hades (Jonah Hardenbergh), and Mr. D aka Dionysus (Sevi Voigt). This production also includes a Greek Chorós dance ensemble consisting of Isabelle Moebius, Madilyn Zerbst, Brooklynn Wales, Lane Parks, Payton Bullock, Petra Frazier, Georgia Hummel, Marin Johnson, Avonlea Kuhlman, Hazel Pickens, Zuri Ghiardi, Nora Laxo, Isla Peterson, Beatrix Zeleznik, Jacob Button, Canyon Medina, Jack Johnson, and Daphne Evans.
