Upper Peninsula State Senator Ed McBroom has been re-elected to another term in Lansing.
The Dickinson County Republican tallied 62-percent of the vote (73,000) to 37-percent (43,000) for Democrat John Braamse in Tuesday’s election.
“It’s very humbling to have so many people sign up for keeping me around for another four years,” McBroom told RRN News. “I’m challenged, in that regard, too, to try to do the best job I can.”
McBroom, a dairy farmer from the Norway area, says he’s ready to keep serving. He says his constuents across the U.P. are concerned about pocketbook issues.
“I hear about how what’s going to happen with propane, and energy costs,” McBroom said. “We see electrical bills going up by crazy amounts. On my own farm, I mean, it’s gone up by like 30-percent in just one month’s time,”
McBroom says he wants to keep working on keeping the Line Five pipeline open, as well as battling the burdonsome regulations imposed by state agencies, like the Department of Natural Resources.
“I hope I can continue to be someone you can look to and call on when you need help with any problems you have with our state government,” McBroom said. “We do the best we can to provide the best possible service we can.”
McBroom says he’s ready to keep being the person that U.P. Residents come to to get help with state agency overreach. Jack Hall’s interview is on our LOCAL NEWS page.
