The University of Michigan Board of Regents will have its first-ever formal meeting in the Upper Peninsula this week as part of a several-day trip by regents and other U-M leaders to northern Michigan.
The northern Michigan visit is designed to strengthen the ties that bind U-M to all corners of the Great Lakes state. Meeting highlights include presentations about admissions, the economic impact of U-M in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, the health system, the Biological Station and research on butterflies and fish.
The U-M Board of Regents will meet on Thursday at the Bear East Arena, 275 Marquette St., in St. Ignace, from 4:00 until 5:30. At the same time as theĀ board meeting, U-M is hosting an admissions event at the Quality Inn St. Ignace, 561 Boulevard Dr., St. Ignace.
Following the meeting, from 5:30-7 p.m., the regents will host a community reception at the Museum of Ojibwa Culture at Old Mission Saint-Ignace, 500 N. State St., St. Ignace.
