At approximately 9:44 p.m. Monday, Escanaba Department of Public Safety was dispatched to 211 North 16th Street for a report of a house fire. Officers arrived on the scene and found the vinyl siding near the front door to be on fire.
An officer attacked the fire with an extinguisher until the fire truck arrived. Officers then made a quick attack on the fire until it was extinguished .
Escanaba Department of Public Safety remained on the scene for approximately 45 minutes. Preliminary investigation for the cause of the fire is believed to be a discarded cigarette. No injuries were reported.
