Nursing is a passion. It is a calling to help others, save lives, give to community. A Bay College August 2020 nursing graduate is doing just that.
Susie Carpiaux-Larson, RN, working with the Bay College Foundation, developed the Susie Larson Nursing Scholarship. Susie was a non-traditional student pursuing her dream to become a nurse. Bay College was her place to pursue her passion, and scholarships helped Susie bridge the financial gap to stay in college.
As Susie indicated, “It was not easy. At age 40+, I had to lay a foundation for learning, build confidence, and create a network for success. Bay’s HUB study rooms, instructors and classmates along with my tenacity made it all possible. I love nursing which makes it all worthwhile; I want to give back to an institution that gave me so much!”
Susie developed the nursing scholarship to help other non-traditional students like herself build confidence and bridge the financial gap of pursuing their passion to become a nurse. The scholarship will be awarded annually starting Winter, 2022. Students may apply for Bay College scholarships at www.baycollege.edu/scholarships.
Susie is employed as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique. She has a passion for long-term care, families, and the people she impacts. According to Kim Carne of the Bay College Foundation, “Susie was always an inspiration on campus. After raising her family and exploring other careers, she enrolled in the nursing program at Bay College. Bay is honored that she has chosen to help students with their dream of also becoming a Registered Nurse. “
