The Wagner (Wis.) Fire Department received a $9,000 grant from the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) to be used for the purchase of firefighting gear and equipment.
The volunteer department has been restricted in its ability to raise funds through public events as a result of COVID-19 precautions. The purchase of gear is especially critical as they have recently added three new volunteers to their firefighting unit. Without the equipment the new volunteers are unable to train nor attend structure fire calls.
The $9,000 check presentation took place at the Wagner Fire Hall at their regular monthly meeting. Paula Gruszynski, Executive Director of the MMACF, attended the meeting and made the announcement.
“The need was obvious to the M&M Area Community Foundation’s Grant Committee. They were very willing to contribute to the protection of this rural Marinette County community,” said Paula Gruszynski.
