The Marquette County Health Department says that the COVID-19 testing that’s currently available is not adequate to meet the demand caused by the recent spread of the virus in the region.
This lack of resources means that they are only givimg tests to people who have direct symptoms, or severe COVID-19-like symptoms. Others who can get tests include the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.
But people who want to get tested for peace of mind, or if they are planning a trip, will find it difficult to get one. The health department also says that delays in reporting of testing results are causing additional problems, with the turnaround times being much longer than back in the summer.
People who have symptoms but cannot get a test should stay home and isolate for ten days. Also, call any of your close contacts and let them know. Do not wait for the health department to make that call, because staff are currently overwhelmed and cannot do the contact tracing for every case.
