It was a good night Tuesday for the Delta Area Transit Authority, as the millage questions on the ballot passed in all communities where it appeared. It was a renewal of the current millage for a five-year period. It was not a tax increase.
In the City of Escanaba, the vote was 1,409 yes to 546 no. In the City of Gladstone, it was 599 yes to 214 no.
It also passed in the townships. In Brampton Township, the vote was 146-73.
In Cornell Township, it was closer, 73-63.
In Ensign Township, where there was also a fire millage on the ballot, the DATA vote was 113-81. The Ensign Fire Department proposal also passed, 152-44.
In Ford River Township, the DATA proposal passed easily, 293-117. And in Masonville Township, the bus service was supported, 196-107.
The Big Bay deNoc Schools had their sinking fund millage request defeated, however, 352-331.
