Jeffery Sierpien has been selected as the next manager for the Delta County airport.
Delta County Administrator Phil Strom made the announcement on Tuesday.
Sierpien is a retired Major from the United States Marine Corps. He and his family reside in Escanaba.
Strom says that Sierpien has an impressive set of qualifications that include his attendance of Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia where he received his commission in 1999. His assignments include maintenance material control officer, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC; assistant maintenance officer, Stewart Air National Guard Base, Newburgh, NY; manpower specialist, Marine Corps Manpower and Reserve Affairs, Quantico, VA; maintenance officer, Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2, Cherry Point, NC; and information officer, Joint Information Operations Warfare Center, San Antonio, TX. He most recently served as the Commander of the Detroit Military Entrance Procession Station in Detroit, MI.
Sierpien has educational credentials that include the following: Aviation Maintenance Officer Course; Expeditionary Warfare School; Naval War College Command and Staff College; Naval Postgraduate School; Marine Corps Command and Staff College. He also has a Bachelor of Science from Wayne State University, and a Master’s in Human Resources from Webster University.
Mr. Sierpien has many meritorious service medals, commendation medals, achievement medals, and campaign medals for his career in the Marines. He was deployed seven times in his career including deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and Japan.
“Delta County and our airport will be under great direction from Mr. Sierpien. He is a proven leader, a patriot, a community-minded local resident, and maybe most importantly a father and husband with a vested interest in the success of Delta County. We feel lucky that Mr. Sierpien and his family chose to live in Delta County and we are all excited to see his vision for our Delta County airport,” Strom said.
