Helen Newberry Joy Hospital welcomes experienced provider, Dr. William Sheppard, to its medical staff.
Dr. Sheppard will provide primary care to patients in both the Manistique Lakes Family Clinic and West Mackinac Health Clinic beginning January 7, 2020.

Over the past 10 years, Dr. Sheppard has been working as a Hospitalist for Covenant HealthCare and Spectrum Health. Previously, he spent 13 years in private practice and 8 years teaching family medicine at Genesys Regional Medical Center as an adjunct professor for the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. During his tenure, Dr. Sheppard received numerous accolades. In 2014-2015 he was named by CMU Health as “Family Medicine Residency Outstanding Educator” and in 2003-2004 and 2008-2009 he was named “Family Practice Educator of the Year” by Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Sheppard completed his Family Medicine residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, now Ascension Genesys, and is board certified in family medicine.
