Kristy Lynn Olson, 25, of Escanaba was sentenced to 18 months to 10 years in prison. Olson was sentenced following the entry of a guilty plea to Possession of Methamphetamine and Prisoner Possessing Contraband.
On August 6, 2018, Olson was scheduled to be sentenced on an unrelated Uttering & Publishing charge. Upon arrival, the Court was alerted that Olson appeared to be highly intoxicated.
A Corrections Officer from Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI was requested to conduct a drug test. At that time, Olson provided the officer a tin foil container that she said contained methamphetamine. With that information, the Court cancelled the sentencing and lodged Olson in the Delta County Jail. Upon her lodging in the jail, Olson was strip searched and a partially used needle was located on Olson’s person, as well as half a Suboxone pill.
