Spencer Dean Lafave, 20, of Gladstone was sentenced to 12 months in the Delta County Jail.
Lafave was sentenced following the entry of a guilty plea as charged to Larceny of a Firearm, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, and Breaking & Entering of a Vehicle with Intent to Steal, $200 or more but less than $1,000, punishable by up to 1 year in jail.
On April 24, 2019, Gladstone Public Safety Department officers received a report of a male entering parked vehicles and stealing items.
Witnesses described the subject as wearing a black sweatshirt and had dark hair. An officer in the area observed Lafave matching the description from the witnesses. Lafave was positively identified by the witneses, but nothing appeared to have been stolen.
Gladstone Public Safety Department officer received information later that a handgun was missing from a vehicle in that area. Officers reviewed surveillance video and once again positively identified Lafave as going through vehicles. Officers went to Lafave’s residence and observed a handgun through the window. The handgun was identified as the stolen item. Lafave made a full confession.
