The City of Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is excited to announce that Downtown Iron Mountain’s first Small Business Week event will run from May 4th to May 10th, joining the nationwide celebration led by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) during National Small Business Week.
This event is a tribute to all the incredible small businesses that make Downtown Iron Mountain a vibrant and thriving hub of the community, and will feature exciting activities aimed at supporting and celebrating downtown businesses.
Small Business Week is made possible through the generous support of the Presenting Sponsor, First National Bank & Trust, and the radio sponsors, Results Broadcasting, and Radio Results Network.
The DDA also expresses gratitude to community partners, including the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance (DAEDA), and Loyal 2 Local.
“Small businesses play a vital role in our community, and we’re thrilled to be part of this initiative,” said Dale Cook, Senior Commercial Lender of First National Bank & Trust. “Small Business Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the contributions of our local entrepreneurs and encourage everyone to shop, dine, and support the businesses that make downtown Iron Mountain so special.”
“The DDA is excited to partner with our generous sponsors, as well as our community partners, to host this week of awareness and celebration,” said Katherine Mentel of the Iron Mountain DDA. “Small businesses are essential to the spirit and economy of Downtown Iron Mountain, and this week provides a great way for our community to show support and appreciation. Throughout the week, you’ll hear directly from our downtown businesses and can join in the fun with our Business Bingo activity.”
Speaking of Business Bingo, Mentel added that, “Business Bingo offers an interactive way to explore downtown. Participants can pick up a Bingo card between May 4th – 10th at participating locations, visit local businesses, and return completed cards by May 12th to be entered into a prize drawing. Two winners will receive giveaway baskets valued at $200, filled with goodies from downtown businesses. Visit our website for more details.”
Small Business Week not only highlights the contributions of local businesses but also fosters community pride and encourages residents to shop and dine locally, which helps keep dollars circulating within Iron Mountain’s economy.
Suzanne Larson, Executive Director of the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce, stated, “Small Business Week is an opportunity to express gratitude for the owners who invest in our community every day, from the sponsor of Little League to the donor for the local backpack program, small businesses are the backbone of our community. Small businesses make up over 99% of US businesses and employ nearly half of the private workforce. In our city, they create jobs, fill storefronts, and support the tax base that funds infrastructure, schools, and city services. When small businesses thrive, our entire city benefits.”
