Winter Storm Leads To Multiple School Closings In Southern U.P.

The heavy snow that’s been falling for several hours has led to school closings for Thursday’s classes in parts of the Upper Peninsula.

Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect in Delta, Alger, Schoolcraft, Luce, and Menominee Counties until 5:00 ET/4:00 CT Thursday morning for continued heavy snow and winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour. The warning in Dickinson County is in effect until 1 a.m. CT, and in western Chippewa and Mackinac Counties, the warnings are in effect until 11:00 Thursday morning.

Big Bay deNoc
Carney-Nadeau
Delta-Schoolcraft ISD
Escanaba
Hannahville
Holy Name Catholic School
Holy Spirit Catholic School
Menominee
Mid Peninsula
North Central
Norway-Vulcan

These schools are on a two-hour delay for Thursday:

Breitung Township
Iron Mountain
Dickinson-Iron Tech Center
Bishop Baraga Catholic School Marquette
