Two people were killed and four others injured in a traffic crash on US-2-and-41 in Escanaba on Thursday.
The Escanaba Public Safety Department says the accident happened at about 1:20 in the afternoon at the intersection with Danforth Road.
Police say that a Dodge Ram pick-up truck pulling a snowmobile trailer was going south down the highway when it hit a Subaru that trying to turn west onto Danforth Road.
The people inside the Subaru were removed using the JAWS of Life and were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The four people inside the truck got out without assistance and were taken to OSF St. Francis Hospital for treatment of what police describe as “non-life-threatening” injuries.
The names of the victims are not being released until family members are notified. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Public Safety was assisted by the Michigan State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit out of the Gladstone Post, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Rampart, Delta County Central Dispatch and Gene’s Towing.
