The Superior Health Foundation (SHF) is now accepting applications for its 2025 Spring Proactive Grant Program to support health-focused projects across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. These grants aim to fund initiatives that address unmet healthcare needs, promote health education, and prevent illness in the region.
Applications open on January 6, 2025, and must be submitted by March 6, 2025. Grant recipients will be announced in May 2025. SHF expects individual grant awards to range from $5,000 to $75,000.
Priority will be given to proposals focusing on health issues such as accessibility, behavioral health, substance use disorders, chronic disease prevention, healthy food access, maternal and infant health, caregiver support, oral health, and workforce development. However, other health-related projects will also be considered.
Tax-exempt organizations serving the Upper Peninsula, including grassroots groups, tribal communities, and small to medium-sized nonprofits, are encouraged to apply. SHF values innovation, community involvement, and projects that deliver long-term health benefits.
Full applications can be completed via the SHF grants portal. Applications will be reviewed based on the number of people served, community engagement, ability to impact health outcomes, and collaboration with other entities. All applicants must submit a project narrative, workplan, evaluation plan, budget, and at least two letters of support.
SHF will not fund capital projects, loans, litigation, lobbying activities, or organizations that discriminate based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender.
