The Dickinson County Library will be hosting a Community Scanning Day on Saturday, November 9 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM at the Main Branch in Iron Mountain.
A community scanning day allows patrons to preserve their history by bringing in photos, documents, and memorabilia for digital scanning. Scanned items can be put on a flash drive or sent to you via email.
“We are grateful to the library of Michigan for lending us the digitization kit that will be used to scan, preserve, and save the items attendees bring in,” says Emily Cummings, Local History/Adult programming coordinator. “They provide this service to all Michigan libraries free of charge.”
Dickinson County Library staff will be available to assist with using the equipment. Registration is required for this program, and begins on Saturday, November 2; please call (906) 774-1218 to sign up for a 30-minute time slot. Space is limited.
The Dickinson County Library helps the community find its story. Founded in 1961, the library has three branches located in Dickinson County, the Main Branch in Iron Mountain, the Solomonson Branch in Norway, and the North Dickinson Branch located in the North Dickinson School building. For more information on upcoming programs, please visit the library’s website at www.dcl-lib.org or call the Main Branch at 906-774-1218.
