CASA of Menominee/Marinette is pleased to announce the swearing-in of four new advocates at a recent swearing-in ceremony, conducted jointly by judges from Menominee and Marinette Counties.
The program recently conducted its fall training, with 4 new volunteers completing. The training took place over 5 weeks, and covered topics such as generational trauma, court report writing, and substance misuse.
CASA of Menominee/Marinette conducts regular trainings to continue its ongoing mission of making sure a qualified, compassionate adult will fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family. Court Appointed Special Advocates are trained volunteers appointed by judges to advocate for children in the child welfare system.
“Working across jurisdictions can be difficult due to the state line, but the job of a CASA volunteer is the same no matter where you go.” Says Faith Sandahl, CASA Executive Director. “We are glad our local judges recognize and value that.”
Sandahl also noted that CASA of Menominee/Marinette is one of only three CASA programs in the county to operate across state lines.
“It is a unique situation, to be sure, but we have such a strong, supportive community that knows the value of working together. We are happy to be able to reflect that in how CASA supports our local kids as well.”
