Contributing editor for Antique Trader Magazine, Mark Moran, will be providing free 5-minute appraisals for antiques and fine arts at the Dickinson County Library’s Main Branch on Saturday, November 2 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM.
Moran is a former senior editor of Antiques and Collectibles Books for Krause Publications in Iola, Wisconsin. He is the author or co-author of more than 25 books on antiques and collectibles, including the 800-page annual Warman’s Antiques & Collectibles. Moran bought and sold antiques for more than 30 years, specializing in vintage folk art, Americana, and fine art. He was also a newspaper editor and reporter for three decades. He has been active as an appraiser of antiques and fine art for more than 20 years.
Items that Moran will appraise at the library include fine art, furniture, ceramics, glassware, vintage photographs, advertising, folk art, assorted toys, metalware, clocks, costume jewelry, musical instruments, books, and sporting memorabilia. Excluded items include all weapons, traps, Nazi memorabilia, coins and paper money, fine jewelry, and Beanie Babies.
“It’s been several years since we last hosted Mark at the Dickinson County Library, so we are very excited for his return,” said Emily Cummings, Local History/Adult Programming Coordinator. “This promises to be a fun program to attend whether you have an item for him to appraise or want to watch from the audience.”
Even if you do not have an item for appraisal, join in the fun of seeing the treasures of others. Moran’s visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Required registration begins on Saturday, October 26; please call (906) 774-1218 to sign up. Space is limited and participants must arrive by their registered time.
