First National Bank & Trust is pleased to sponsor the return of Shred Fest, taking place Saturday, September 14 from 9 am to 12 pm.
First National is bringing Country Mile Document Destruction’s mobile shredding truck to Iron Mountain’s Mountain View Ice Arena. Shred Fest provides an opportunity to protect yourself from identity theft by safely destroying your personal documents, immediately, on-site. This service is FREE for everyone in our community– residents, home office workers, community organizations and small businesses, with monetary donations being accepted as well as returnable deposit bottles and cans also being collected to benefit the Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association, (DAHA) and arena improvements.
Proceeds from Shred Fest will be used to purchase rubber flooring for the back corner of the arena, offering protection from the concrete for coaches and players that must utilize that area for practice and game equipment. The flooring will surround the new Engelman Equipment Room, in memory and recognition of Kathi Engelman. DAHA also provides equipment for both players and referees at their request.
“DAHA is thrilled to team with First National Bank for Shred Fest,” said Tim Jaska, DAHA President. “This is a great opportunity to show Iron Mountain residents the value of Mountain View Ice Arena, home of the DAHA Iron Kings, not only as a place to play hockey but as a community property. First National has been a supporting sponsor of Iron Kings hockey teams and our Learn to Play program, as well as bringing events like the popular Teddy Bear Toss to Mountain View during the Kingsford Flivver Hockey season. I cannot think of a better place to host Shred Fest 2024. Iron Kings hockey players will be at Mountain View during the event to assist with Shred Fest activities and invite participants to bring their recyclable cans with them for donation.”
Due to heavy volume, guests may bring a maximum of five boxes of personal documents per vehicle to shred. To make the process efficient, please bring only paper documents with personal information to the shred site, in paper bags or cardboard boxes. Staples and small clips can be put through the shredder, but please make sure that there are no large binder clips, metal ring binders, plastic covers, books (phone books, catalogs, etc.) or other contaminants in your papers. Country Mile Document Destruction, Inc. reserves the right to refuse materials that will jam or damage the shredder.
Over 11,220 lbs. of documents were destroyed at the previous Shred Fest event, held in 2022.
