The Lake Superior Community Partnership (LSCP) hosted a ribbon cutting-ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Superior Judo @ Marquette on August 15, 2024.
This new venture is currently the only chartered club of the United States Judo Association (USJA) in the Upper Peninsula. It aims to bring the whole family to the mat, offering a unique program emphasizing fall safety, physical and emotional development, and family engagement.
Superior Judo @ Marquette is committed to creating a family-friendly atmosphere where juniors’ development is a top priority. The program is designed to be fun and educational, ensuring participants of all ages can develop their skills in a supportive environment. Classes are held on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., with additional sessions to be announced soon.
“We are thrilled to bring this program to Marquette and revive Marquette’s long tradition of Judo,” said Issam El Bizri, owner of Superior Judo @ Marquette. “Come and face your fears in a safe, welcoming space for families to learn and grow together, whether through developing physical abilities and fostering emotional resilience.”
In addition to being available to the general public, Superior Judo @ Marquette is free to U.P. Health System employees through Wellhub (Gympass).
Superior Judo @ Marquette is located at the Northern Lights Martial Arts Center at 1310 S. Front Street in Marquette. For more information, including class schedules and enrollment details, email marquettesuperiorjudo@gmail.com.
