OSF HealthCare St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group, in partnership with Bellin Health, has a new cardiac catheterization lab opening Tuesday.
The cardiac catheterization lab will be housed in OSF St. Francis Hospital and supported by the Bellin cardiovascular team. This new lab will benefit patients by increasing access to tests and other diagnostic care while reducing the need for travel and long wait periods for appointments.
Additional treatment capabilities will be available after its first year of service.
The cardiac catheterization lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art imaging technology used to provide diagnostic care to identify vascular blockages and other concerns for a variety of health conditions. Other procedures include pacemaker placement, as well as stents in the legs or kidney.
“We are grateful to partner with Bellin Health to add the cardiac catheterization lab to our growing cardiovascular service offerings for patients in this community,” says Kelly Jefferson, president at OSF St. Francis Hospital & Medical Group. “This will allow our community members to receive care locally instead of having to drive to another city or state for these procedures, which we hope will also improve outcomes as the same time as convenience.”
The cardiac catheterization lab is the next step in a Bellin-OSF partnership that began last year with the opening of a new cardiology clinic in the OSF Medical Office Building. OSF Cardiovascular Care with Bellin Health began serving patients late last summer.
“We are thrilled to be ushering in the second phase of our cardiovascular care partnership with OSF,” said Dr. James Rider, Bellin Health Cardiovascular Group President. “By working together, we can increase access, decrease travel time and improve the patient experience for the people of Delta County.”
