Bay College is excited to announce a day full of music and community on Tuesday, July 9, with the return of Lunchtime Live! and the Strings on the Bay concert series.
From 11:30am to 1:00pm ET, the Lunchtime Live! series will feature the local band, “Pickstop.” This talented ensemble, comprising of Brayden Mathias, Cameron Lee, Logan Veeser, Kayla Hamelin, and Logan Mathias, will fill the courtyard with vibrant music and make the lunch hour unforgettable.
Lunchtime Live! is a free event and open to the public, with performances taking place in the scenic courtyard between the Catherine Bonifas Building (Building 200) and the Student Services Building (Building 500). In case of inclement weather, the event will move indoors to the Bay Café in the Student Services Building.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their appetite. The Taco Kitchen Food Truck will be serving an array of tacos, burritos, and bowls from 10:30am to 2:00pm ET in Parking Lot E, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
As the sun sets, the music continues with the second Strings on the Bay concert of the season at 7:00pm ET in the Besse Theater. This performance features the acclaimed jazz duo of Cliff Monear and Jeff Pedraz, presenting their show, “We Take Requests.”
Cliff Monear, a renowned jazz pianist and Wayne State University faculty member, has an impressive resume which includes venues worldwide—with artists worldwide. Cliff is also the leading sales consultant for Steinway & Sons – Michigan and Ohio region.
Jeff Pedraz, a Philadelphia native and now Detroit-area resident bassist and composer, has toured with luminaries such as Pat Martino Quintet, Jimmy Bruno Trio, Terell Stafford Quintet, and many others. Working on both the double bass and electric bass, Jeff has worked in an array of musical genres, ranging from traditional orchestral to modern Jazz.
Together these musicians take your “Great American Songbook” requests and make them as unique as the day on which they will be performed—always offering a wonderfully intricate and improvised musical experience.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the concert, offering audience members an opportunity to visit with the performers.
Tickets are available online, in-person at the Besse Center Box Office, or at the door prior to each concert. Admission is $15, or $7 for any student K-Bay.
Tuesday, July 9, promises a day filled with music, food, and community at Bay College. Whether enjoying the lively atmosphere of Lunchtime Live! or the sophisticated sounds of the Strings on the Bay concert, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
