Strega Nonna, in collaboration with Flat Broke Blues Band, will host a special pre-concert benefit to support Trillium House on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Strega Nonna (432 Iron Street) in Negaunee, Michigan.
The event will preclude a special Trillium House benefit concert set for late July featuring country music sensation, Dale Watson.
“We are doing something a little different than our usual Strega events,” said Rachael Grossman, Strega Nonna owner. “There’s no tickets for the pre-concert. You can drop in, make a donation to Trillium House, and enjoy dance lessons, great music with Flat Broke Blues Band, and order from the drink and dinner specials including a ‘Dale Dinner Plate’ featuring pulled pork, mashed potatoes, charro beans, slaw and cornbread. We’ll also be making posters, having a Dale Watson look-alike contest, and doing some other fun stuff to prepare for Dale’s performance in July.”
The event kicks off at 3 pm this Sunday with Texas two step lessons on the patio featuring Marquette dance pro, Maureen McFadden, followed by the Dale Watson look-alike contest at 4 pm with the winner taking home tickets to the Dale Watson concert in July. A performance by local blues favorite, Flat Broke Blues Band, will be held from 5-8 pm with a “Dale Watson Dance Party” closing out the evening’s festivities. The event is free with a recommended donation for entry of $10-$25.
The Dale Watson Concert to benefit Trillium House is set for July 28, 2024, with doors opening at 6 pm, at Strega Nonna in Negaunee. Tickets are available at www.strega.fun.
“It’s going to be a great time at the pre-party. We’ve got some of the pros and other Dancing with our Stars (DWOS) Marquette County Style teams joining us for the evening to showcase their dances and help with dance lessons,” said Dr. Mike Grossman, immediate past president of Trillium House, and DWOS Fan Favorite winner from team StregaDOC with daughter, Rachael Grossman. “We invite everyone to stop in.”
Funds from the event will help support the Dan Mazzuchi Care Fund for those experiencing financial hardship who are in need of Trillium House services. Trillium House is an onsite residential care facility that provides support to individuals enrolled in hospice or in need of short-term care who are unable to remain at home. All individuals utilizing Trillium services receive a private room and bath overlooking the woods, home-style meals, and 24-hour care and support in a beautiful homelike setting. Each resident room is designed and furnished to allow families to stay with their loved ones.
Family members are able to visit at any time and support is provided based on each resident’s unique needs. Trillium’s experienced care staff help with meals, make sure residents are comfortable and safe, assist with medications, or simply hold a hand and listen.
