CLICK TO HEAR JACK HALL’S INTERVIEW WITH TIFFANY CARR, JACOBETTI VETERANS HOME
Michigan Veteran Homes has published a wish list for the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, highlighting much-needed items to support veteran members this holiday season.
“We’re so appreciative to people in the Marquette area, and the U.P. in general for being so supportive of the home,” Tiffany Carr with the Michigan Veterans Homes told RRN News. “We truly could not do this without you, so thank you for making the holidays extra special.”
The Jacobetti Home is seeking monetary donations to support the charitable support fund which is used to improve the quality of life for veteran members. Monetary donations can be made at https://bit.ly/SupportMVH or checks can be written to MVHDJJ and mailed to 425 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855. Please indicate the fund designation “Charitable Support Fund” in the memo section of the check.
The home is also seeking in-kind donations such as personal care items, Velcro shoes, Forever stamps, 2024 wall calendars and Marq-Tran bus tickets.
“They’re looking for things like cookie trays and cocoa trays to be able to celebrate the holidays,” Carr said, adding that because of possible allergies to ingredients in homemade items, it is perferred to have store-bought trays where there’s a label on the item. “Any monetary donations go 100% to support the veterans who live at the Marquette home.”
She says they’re also looking for some high-end razors, not the cheap dollar store ones, for the veterans to use.
“Those are just some little things that they don’t have to purchase on their own, out of their own pocket,” Carr said.
These items can be brought to the main entrance of the Home. For more information or to coordinate a time to drop off in-kind donations, please contact Volunteer and Donations Coordinator Sarah Johnson at johnsons93@michigan.gov or 906-226-3576 Ext: 2520396.
