The City of Menominee will be under new leadership after voters defeated the incumbent mayor and two city council members on Tuesday.
The Menominee Clerk’s office reports the challenger Casey Hoffman won the mayor’s race, defeating incumbent mayor Jean Stegeman, 982 votes to 947. In the city’s First Ward, challenger Cheryl Haupt defeated incumbent councilwoman Jackie Nutter by three votes, 194-191. And in Ward Three, challenger Steve Fifarek beat incumbent Kris Rausch, 373-154.
In Harris Township, a proposal to raise taxes by 0.5 mills to buy a new fire truck passed, 176-98. And the Menominee County Road Patrol millage renewal was approved by voters, 3,228 yes to 1,348 no.
