The local Shoe Sensation store in Escanaba plans to celebrate its anniversary in the Delta Plaza with a community event next weekend.
“We love being part of this community,” said Marge Derkos, the local store leader. “Serving our neighbors through local charitable partnerships has been a major focus for us since we opened. It seems natural to open our doors with some fun and activities to say ‘thank you’ for weaving us into the fabric of Escanaba.”
Shoe Sensation has been actively involved in supporting Socks for Troops, Foster Grandparents, local Girl Scouts, the Delta Animal Shelter, and Delta County Schools’ Financial Reality Fairs. In fact, local charitable involvement is part of the national Shoe Sensation mantra.
“We plant our stores in smaller cities and towns where we can offer large-scale name-brand selection with small-town customer service,” said CEO Dave Schoengart. “We partner with local charities and participate actively in local events because we think it’s important to help make communities like Escanaba the best they can be.”
The celebration will kick off at Delta Plaza Mall with a special event in partnership with the Delta County Chamber of Commerce on Friday morning, and include a duck pond and temporary tattoos for kids that will be available all weekend.
Throughout the weekend, the store will offer customers the opportunity to enter to win either a $500 shopping spree or free shoes for their entire immediate family. Additional specials, discounts and mystery cards will also be available through Sunday.
There are three Shoe Sensation locations in the Upper Peninsula. Besides Escanaba, it has stores in Marquette and Ironwood.
