Michigan Tech University’s Fall 2023 Career Fair is schedled for Tuesday afternoon.
The event features nearly 400 companies looking to hire students to become a part of their teams. The event runs from 12-5 p.m. in the Michigan Tech Student Development Complex. To make scheduling easier, students will have a recess from labs and coursework from 2-4 p.m. in order to attend.
“We have probably the largest group of employers ever,” Jenna Lane, MTU’s Director of Career Services, told RRN News. “Logistically, there’s two huge gymnasiums full. Hopefully, students are preparing in advance, because there’s no way they’re going to be avle to speak with 376 employers. There is certainly a concentration of employers who are hiring our engineering students, for sure, because that is a majority of our students. But we also have a College of Business, a College of Forestry, a College of Science and Arts, and a College of Computing. There are employers here who are recuriting them, too.”
She says there’s a wide range of representatives coming, from the U.S. Forest Service to aerospace companies.
Lane says students should have their resumes ready, be prepared to be able to talk about themselves, and how to dress for the event.
“We’ve been preparing students like crazy,” Lane said.
Tech is nationally known for the event, which brings hundreds of recruiters to town, keeping area lodging and restaurants as busy as it will be on campus. Thousands of on-campus interviews for co-ops, internships and full-time positions will take place on Wednesday.
