***UPDATE***The Marinette Police Department has identified a person of interest and located the suspect vehicle regarding this incident. That person is cooperating with Law Enforcement Authorities and their investigation. THERE IS NO THREAT TO THE PUBLIC.
ORIGINAL STORY
:On Saturday, July 15, 2023 at approximately 2:18am, Marinette County Dispatch received a 911 call for the report of an individual on a bike that had been struck by a vehicle on the HWY 41 Interstate Bridge in the City of Marinette.
On arrival, Officers located a 48-year-old male unresponsive. Officers immediately started to render life saving measures. The male was pronounced deceased on scene as a result of his injuries sustained from being struck. At this time the name of the deceased is being withheld pending the notification to the family.
Several agencies responded to the scene to assist including: The Marinette Police Department, Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center- Bay Area EMS personnel, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office, Menominee Fire Department and Menominee Police Department.
This is an ongoing active investigation and the Marinette Police Department is currently trying to locate a suspect vehicle that fled the scene. Authorities are asking the public to please contact the Marinette Police Department with any information at (715) 732-5200.
