The Seney National Wildlife Refuge is pleased to announce a groundbreaking ceremony and open house on May 10th, 2023.
The event will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. to commemorate the start of construction on the refuge’s new visitor center. When completed, the new visitor center will provide visitors with a modern, interactive experience that highlights the refuge’s natural wonders and wildlife.
During the open house there will be presentations at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. highlighting the ongoing work projects supported through the Great American Outdoor Act. These funds are allowing us to complete much needed work on several refuge structures which have been on a maintenance backlog.
The funding has supported work on four big projects. The presentations will highlight the progress on each of these projects.
- The new combined visitor center and headquarters building
- Marshland Wildlife Drive and Fishing Loop bridge and water control structure repairs
- Show Pool Site rehabilitation and improvements
- Pine Ridge Nature Trail improvement project
