Michigan Tech’s Design Expo, the annual student showcase for invention and innovation, which has been going strong for more than two decades, is set for this Tuesday.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in both the J.R. Van Pelt and Opie Library and Memorial Union Building. Organizers have curated the exhibit into 15 categories this year, making it easier for attendees to choose areas of interest ranging from human health to space technology. The work of 41 Senior Design teams, 16 student project teams, and 13 first-year engineering teams — plus three vehicles! — will be on display. A reception and awards ceremony follows from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.
Design Expo is an easy and fun way to meet students and the companies they’re working with on ambitious and life-improving projects. “At Design Expo students display their work on a wide range of projects — building race cars, providing sustainable solutions, tackling complex industry problems with advanced technologies, using machine learning to program autonomous vehicles and much more,” said Nagesh Hatti, Enterprise Program director. “I enjoy working with our students, team advisors and industry partners for continued growth and success of the program.”
