The digging out continues around the Upper Peninsula after the snowstorm which dumped more than a foot of snow in many areas on Wedneday night and Thursday morning. According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snow reports came from the higher terrain areas of Marquette County, as well as in the south-central U.P. Some of the snowfall reports, as of 7:30 pm.:

Harvey 10.2 inches
Powers/Spalding 10 inches
Marquette 9.3 inches
Escanaba 9 inches
Iron Mountain 9 inches
Menominee 8 inches
Garden 8.3 inches
Gladstone 6.8 inches
Big Bay 5.1 inches
Manistique 4.3 inches
Sault Ste. Marie 3 inches
In addition, high winds blew the snow around, causing drifts as high as two feet deep in Escanaba.
Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect until 1 a.m. in Marquette, Alger, Luce, and northern Schoolcraft Counties for another 1-to-3 inches of snow. And a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in the eastern U.P. counties.
