On Thursday, October 13, from 6-8 p.m. the Peter White Public Library and the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture will be hosting the opening receptions for the three art galleries within the walls of PWPL.
Marc Himes and Louise Laakso Lundin will be giving their artist talks at 6:30 p.m. in the Deo Gallery. The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning Students will speak beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Huron
Mountain Club Gallery.
The Deo Gallery is owned by the City of Marquette and is located in the basement of the PWPL in the City’s Arts & Culture Center; it is curated monthly by the Lake Superior Art Association. The Deo Gallery’s exhibit will be up through October 28. PWPL galleries’ exhibits will be up through November. Receptions are free and open to the public.
EXHIBITS:
The Deo Gallery: Water. Color. Wood. Marc Himes and Louise Laakso Lundin Woodturning and Watercolors by award-winning, accomplished artists. Artist Talk at 6:30 p.m.
Huron Mountain Club Gallery (Main floor): The Best of Us: An NCLL Retrospective, Northern Center for Lifelong Learning Students. A variety of student photographers ranging in experience, equipment, and subjects. Artist Talk at 7:00 p.m.
Lower Level Lobby Gallery (Outside the Deo Gallery): Digital Humans, Lari Wendt Digital images combining realistic human features and abstract images.
