The Fire Station Cannabis Co. Munising applied for and received a beautification grant offered by the Munising Downtown Development Authority to go toward the cost of flowers, plants, and supplies for outdoor beautification of businesses in the community.
TFS Munising utilized the grant to spruce up the front flower beds at the store, purchasing all supplies from local retailers in Munising.
In order to receive the grant, TFS Munising employees had to submit a plan to the DDA. This submission outlined the plan to clear out the old mulch and fabric liners, add new soil, and a new fabric liner to cut back weeds. Native perennials were planted with longevity in mind, as well as some annuals for added fill and color. Potted flowers for the cement patio area were the final touch.
General Manager, James Bojorquez, stated that ultimately, he hopes that the project will help the bees. “We’re grateful to the Munising DDA for offering this grant and giving us the opportunity to reinvest in other local businesses as well as showcase what Munising’s local businesses have to offer while they are visiting our store,” said Bojorquez.
TFS Munising is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST.
