The City of Escanaba Recreation Department accepted a grant award from the Community Foundation for Delta County and its Youth Advisory Committee.
The funds will be utilized to purchase two ADA compliant picnic tables for the new splash park. The splash park is anticipated to be constructed this fall at the Webster Wading Pool site.
“The Community Foundation for Delta County and its Youth Advisory Committee continues to support youth activities throughout the City and we are fortunate to have them support our efforts”, said Recreation Director Kim Peterson.
The City is also getting money from the Hannahville Indian Community to help with the splash park, as well as the Rock the Dock events this summer. That money comes from the 2% grants that the tribe gives to local governments as part of its gaming compact. Some of the money will also be used to buy a new generator for the civic center.
“Working with the Hannahville Indian Community and their continued support for the recreation department is a great partnership and one that is truly appreciated,” Peterson said.
