On February 25, 2022, David Lee Fike, 36, of Janesville, Wisconsin, was convicted of Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine and Possession of Methamphetamine in a School/Library Zone, as a 4th Habitual Offender. Fike will be sentenced on May 31, 2022, and is facing a maximum of life in prison.
At trial, testimony was presented by detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, that on December 14, 2020, Fike sold methamphetamine to a Confidential Informant at a residence in the city of Escanaba. The residence was located within, approximately 750 feet of the Escanaba City Library.
The purchase was for approximately ¼ ounce or 7 grams of methamphetamine, for $600. 7 grams of methamphetamine would equate to approximately 70 individual doses of methamphetamine.
During the trial, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Wickman highlighted the audio obtained of the hand to hand exchange between Fike and the Confidential Informant, as well as the independent identifications by UPSET detectives conducting surveillance.
Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team was assisted by the Delta County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin authorities.
