Kenneth Meshigaud, Hannahville Indian Community Tribal Chairperson, presented the Fair Board with a $55,000 check as a Grand Champion Presenting Sponsor.
“The Hannahville Indian Community is very proud to be able to sponsor the U.P. State Fair, Michigan’s only state fair,” Meshigaud said. “We continue to support our community and the entire south-central U.P. We’re very glad to be partners with the communities and wish the U.P. State Fair all the success that it deserves.”
Emma Cook, Enbridge Community Engagement Advisor Emma Cook, also spoke at the meeting, and presented the Fair Authority with a $10,000 check as Champion Sponsor of the 2022 U.P. State Fair. “We’re excited to be back sponsoring the U.P. State Fair again,” Cook said. “The Fair is a celebration of all the communities across the Upper Peninsula, which is why it’s a great fit for us being that our footprint is across the U.P.”
Both the Island Resort and Casino and Enbridge will have exhibit booths on the midway at the U.P. State Fair, and would like to encourage everyone to visit their booths.
“On behalf of The U.P. State Fair Authority, we are delighted and thankful to the Hannahville Indian Community, Enbridge, and all of our generous sponsors for their continued support of the U.P. State Fair,” said U.P. State Fair Management Agent Vickie Micheau. “I believe that partnering with us signals our sponsors’ continued commitment to family and community, fun and education, and to the great agricultural roots of Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. Their support will allow for the time-honored tradition of events and activities associated with the fairgrounds to continue.”
The U.P. State Fair Authority held its first in-person meeting of 2022 on March 18 in the Delta County Chamber of Commerce multi-purpose building.
