Several hundred people turned out for the Escanaba Community Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday at the high school.
But it was different this year. It was NOT a family style dinner where you say “pass the gravy”. It was a buffet style meal, and they spread out serving times to between 11:30 and 2, rather than everyone sitting down at exactly 12 noon. But people still sat together and enjoyed a meal of turkey and all the fixings, donated by local businesses.
There was also a trio playing festive holiday music, and there were others who came in for to-go orders…all free of charge. Organizer Dennis Lamarche told RRN News he was still pleased with the turnout, said they had plenty of volunteers help to put on the event, and he thanked the local businesses who donated food for the event.
